2019-20 Grading & Request to Change Grade Notation

Form to Change From Credit/No Credit to Letter Grade Notations

Norwalk-La Mirada Unified School District high school students have the option to request a letter grade notation on their Spring Semester transcript for 2020 instead of a mark of Credit or No Credit. Letter grade notations may be requested for any or all classes. Letter grade notations may affect the GPA on the transcript. Please note that once this form is submitted, you cannot change the request. Click here to access the request form.

This request must be submitted by 11:59 pm on Friday, May 22, 2020.

Grading Policy during Distance Learning
In collaboration with our teachers, NLMUSD adopted a “hold harmless” grading model which means that no student will receive a semester grade lower than the grade they received on the Quarter 3 report card. Progress reports were generated on May 1, 2020 to notify students who received an ‘F’ on the Q3 report card, have not made progress during distance learning, and/or are in danger of receiving a mark of “No Credit.” As previously communicated on April 23, NLMUSD has adopted a Credit/No Credit grading system for our secondary students for the second semester grades. We understand however, that in special circumstances, changing to a Credit/No Credit system may adversely affect students; therefore, we will have the option for high school students only (Grades 9-12) to petition to receive traditional letter grades in one or all of their classes. High school students interested in submitting a request to receive letter grades must submit a request no later than Friday, May 22, 2020. Information regarding the process to petition for letter grades will be posted on our school websites by Friday, May 15, 2020 2020. Please note: Students enrolled in Alternative Education, including El Camino High School, will continue to receive letter grades.
